Check One: The Plate

Since July 2019, Oklahoma plates are assigned to people, not vehicles. This means you keep the plate.

Take it off before the vehicle leaves. Keep it in a safe place. Move it to your next vehicle. Or turn it in to Service Oklahoma or a licensed operator.

Never leave your plate on a vehicle you sold. The buyer must put on their own.

Check Two: Paper or Electronic?

Oklahoma has moved toward electronic titles. You may not own a paper title at all. Find out which kind you have. Then follow the right path below.

If You Have a Paper Title

Ownership of the title has to be transferred to the buyer.  A notary public needs to be present when the document is signed.  Fill in the price and the odometer reading. Sign only when the sale is real.

If Your Title Is Electronic

There is no paper to sign. Instead, you use the state’s Electronic Title Bill of Sale. It takes the place of the title. It must be notarized.

Not sure which one you have? Ask Service Oklahoma. Or tell us what you see.

Lost Your Paper Title?

Ask for a duplicate. The request needs a notary. There is a small fee. Plan for mail time if you apply by mail.

Not sure where you stand? Tell us your story. We will explain the next step. We never promise what the state may refuse.

Lost the Title Someone Signed Over to You?

This happens often. You bought a vehicle. You receive the title already signed over by the seller. Then you lost it.

Oklahoma has a state affidavit for exactly this case. It needs proof of the sale, such as a notarized bill of sale or a canceled check. It also needs an odometer statement for newer vehicles. Ask Service Oklahoma which papers fit your case.

Tell the State You Sold

Oklahoma lets sellers file a Notice of Transfer. It updates the state’s record. It helps show the vehicle is no longer yours.

Keep a copy of everything you sign. Keep it for a while.

Rules and forms change. Check with Service Oklahoma before you sign.

Junk, Salvage and Rebuilt Titles

Some vehicles are wrecked beyond repair. Some are taken apart for parts. In Oklahoma, a salvage or junk vehicle needs the right title type.

A repaired salvage vehicle can earn a rebuilt title. Anyone who sells a salvage or rebuilt vehicle must tell the buyer in writing.

We buy all of these. Tell us what the title says.

Storms, Hail and Red Dirt

Oklahoma weather is rough. Hail dents every panel. Tornado winds toss debris. Heavy rain floods low roads. Summer heat cooks batteries. Red dirt gets into everything. Long highways pile on the miles.

Many owners decide it is time to stop fixing and start selling.

How We Set Your Price?

The car’s model year, brand, and model are the first things we review.  We look at miles. We ask what still works. We think about reusable parts. We think about scrap metal. How accessible the vehicle is plays a part in our evaluation. .

Share the real problems. Then your offer holds on pickup day.

Pickup in Three Moves

First, send the details. Second, read your offer. It is yours to take or ignore. Third, pick a time. Our driver checks the vehicle, goes over the papers with you and pays you when it is loaded.
